Nine days later, the same number — almost always 🖖
Adding a number’s digits until one figure remains is ordinary arithmetic: the answer is the number’s remainder on division by 9, with 9 standing in for 0. So a birth date and the same date nine days later ought to share a life number, since their digit sums differ by a multiple of 9. Take the first 19 days of every month from 1900 to 2025, so the nine-day step never crosses into the next month: 28,383 pairs agree, 345 do not — and every single exception is the 11/22/33 rule, the one place this system steps outside the arithmetic.
What a life number actually is 🖖
Your life number comes from adding up every digit of your full birth date, then adding the digits of that total again and again until one figure is left. The system keeps 11, 22, and 33 as special master numbers instead of shrinking them further. Because the whole date feeds in, friends born a single day apart can land on different numbers, while strangers born decades apart often share yours.
The master numbers are carved out of 2, 4 and 6 🖖
Run every date from 1900 to 2025 through this tool and the twelve possible results come out nowhere near equal. Six of them — 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9 — land on exactly 11.11%, one ninth each. Three others are visibly starved: 2 appears 3.09% of the time, 4 appears 7.29%, 6 appears 6.93%. That missing share is not lost, it is withheld, because 11 reduces to 2, 22 to 4 and 33 to 6. Add each master number back to the digit it would have become and you recover 11.11% exactly, three times over. A master number is not rare because it is special; it is rare because the rule that creates it takes its share from one particular digit.

Example problems
- Albert Einstein - Born 14 March 1879: the digits sum to 33 and stop there, a master number and one of the rarer results at 4.18% of all dates.
- Adolf Hitler - Born 20 April 1889, life number 5 - one of the six commonest results at 11.11%, which this system hands to about one person in nine. Whatever a life number describes, it is not character.
- Donald Trump - Born 14 June 1946: digit sum 31, reducing to 4. That result covers only 7.29% of dates, because 22 has taken the rest of its share.
- Steve Jobs - Steve Jobs, 24 February 1955: 28, then 2 + 8 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1. Two rounds of reduction to reach one of the six results that get an even ninth each.
- Master 11 - 18 February 1836 sums to 29, which would ordinarily reduce to 2. The rule holds it at 11 instead - and that single exception is why 2 appears on 3.09% of dates rather than 11.11%.
- Master 22 - 30 September 1207 sums to exactly 22 and stops. Held back from 4, which is why 4 gets 7.29% and 22 gets 3.83%: together, one ninth.
